The christmas trees are up! The fairy lights are twinkling and we are ready to welcome our guests who are coming to spend christmas and new year with us self catering on the Antrim Coast!
The Causeway Coastal Route can be travelled whatever the season and many delights are in store for you along the way. Castles to explore, waterfalls of outstanding beauty, The Giants Causeway, beautiful beaches for a walk. Lots of things to do for all the family. If you just google ‘The Causway Coastal Route’ or “The Antrim Coast” and you will be amazed by the variety of sights waiting to be discovered and if self-catering in Northern Ireland is what you are looking for your holiday/vacation we have the perfect base to explore it from.
The occassional snowflake is beginning to fall, a perfect time to take a walk through Carnfunnock Country Park kicking through the leaves. We have seen baby seals on the beach and the Northern Lights have been dancing their display above the White Bear Rock.
The Game of Thrones filming continues to draw visitors to this part of the coast This area must be one of the favourite spots for filming , The Ballygally Castle Hotel is now home to one of the famous 10 doors. A must for a photo! Magheramourne quarry is the site for the ‘White Wall’ (easily visible from the road – it gets whiter every day!) and rumours are saying that it will soon be a venue for Wedding Photos. The hills above the apartments are often lit up for night time scenes which featured in the latest series. If you are very lucky you will see strangely dressed creatures in the village shop. The bad news is that season 8 is to be the last series, I don’t know what is going to happen to all the film locations.? download the Game of Thrones app on our website to plan your visit.
Steensons jewellers in Glenarm is another must on the attractions trail. Their new showroom is situated beside the church as you enter the village and you just might see them working on a piece of jewellry for Game of Thrones. Ladies, you will love it – trust me. They now have a coffee bar to keep you wide awake for all the sightseeing to come.
And so it’s business as usual at Ballygally Holiday Apartments, offering you a comfortable and cozy place to snuggle up on the sofa and watch the changing skys and sea, then take a trip up the Causeway coastal routeroad or a days shopping in Belfast back for a a dinner at Ballygally Castle, Matties Meeting House or The Halfway House and back to your self catering apatment for a good nights sleep, to do it all again tomorrow. Truly ‘your home from home’ for self Catering on the Antrim Coast.
There is the start of activities gearing up for Christmas everywhere with the trees going up and the lights going on and lots of cosy socks and blankets being purchased.
